This week’s batch of chapters have been interesting, some of which introduced new characters to the story.

In Douluo Dalu, the story continues with Tang San and Xiao Wu’s encounter with his new school classmates and they all attend their first class. Enjoyably, there was another battle which told more about Tang San and Xiao Wu’s personalities. What is more interesting is how one of their classmates, Oscar, is in the auxiliary spirit system. We get the sense that his ‘sausages’ can promote recovery, but can he also buff/enhance the other spirit users in the same way as Ning Rongrong? Also, what do you think is Oscar’s 2nd ring ability?

In Souen no Historia and Tate no Yuusha, both stories introduce new characters that can come to play in the story. Whereas in the latter story Naofumi is adding a multitude of various characters to expand his village, Souji has recruited only two new characters to work at the mansion. For some reason, I think I prefer adding a smaller number of characters would be more interesting and have a larger impact in the story in comparison to adding a large number of almost-inconsequential-type characters that may or may not affect the story. Hopefully, the story will progress and reveal what each character affect the story.

The Sendai Yuusha, or proceeding hero, has finally revealed himself to his party who he was in the past. He meets an old acquaintance in the past, who is trying to force him back into the human-demon war. I’m not sure what’s going on in the story to be honest. I would think that he should visit the country who originally summoned him to figure out what’s going on with the war.  Why is she sending him out to war again, I wonder?

There has also been several small updates to several english translated novels.

In Gun-Ota, Lute completes his first guild mission as an adventurer with absolutely no trouble, and graduates to a level 2 adventurer. He then applies for another quest and begins some quest preparation. Based off of the narration, it is hinted that Lute will run into some trouble. The thing is, he is technically ‘overpowered’ so the monsters he will face will get decimated. Will the story take a darker route where he will finally suffer, or will he run intro some trouble but trample over them as if they are nothing? I don’t think he has really faced any suffering in his current world.

As opposed to that, Alice in Alice Tale is currently in the middle of a battle to save hisher village. Alice uses her new support magic to help her foster family and meets up with an elf. The story has not progressed greatly, but the genderbender concept feels like it has been completely lost. Not only that, I do not fully understand the world. There are both levels and skills which directly show off each characters abilities. However, there are the innate passives that not only affect skill acquisition, but can sometimes add a tremendous bonus to stats(?) that could outstrip a character’s leveled ability. Hopefully the numerical abilities concept solidifies as the story continues, so that we can tell when or when does a numerical leveled benefit not outweigh the benefits from innate passive bonuses.

Anyhow, I’ll stop my comments here for now until more content is translated in some of the chapters. It is very difficult to discuss about certain novels as there isn’t enough to talk about =P. Don’t forget to leave your thoughts and what not in the comments below.
